Dear colleagues,
I would like to draw your attention to a leadership workshop being offered as part of the European Board of Veterinary Specialisation (EBVS) Congress 2026 in Kraków.
The Pre-Congress Day, entitled "Less Pain, More Gain: Leadership Skills for Supervisors", is being delivered through a partnership with the EBVS and is aimed at Diplomates and specialists who supervise residents, direct training programmes, or are considering taking on supervisory responsibilities in the future.
I would be grateful if you could share this opportunity with your ECVN Diplomates, particularly those involved in supervisor training and programme direction.
Many of the topics will resonate strongly with those involved in residency training and clinical supervision. Sessions will cover:
• Building a culture of caring and compassionate leadership
• Giving effective feedback and managing expectations
• Establishing team culture and programme values
• Understanding conflict and resentment in supervisory relationships
• Repairing and strengthening professional relationships
The workshop will be led by Dr Joshua Hartzell and Lucy Kane, who bring extensive experience in leadership development, coaching, medical education, feedback, workplace relationships, and team culture.
Date: 5 October 2026
Location: Kraków, Poland
Registration fee: €220
Registration is now open, and places are limited.
Further details and registration can be found here: https://www.ebvs.eu/2026-pre-congress-workshop-0

Organising Committee
Dear colleagues
I am pleased to inform you once again that our COST Action VET-PASS – European Veterinary Education and Training for Professional Advancement, Specialisation, and Skills has been approved.
We are now entering the crucial phase of establishing the Action’s governance structure, in particular the Management Committee (MC). The MC will play a central role in guiding the strategic direction of VET-PASS, ensuring that the Action is implemented effectively, inclusively, and in line with its objectives.
I am therefore writing to encourage all secondary proposers, EBVS National Representatives, and other colleagues with strong expertise in veterinary specialisation, postgraduate training, accreditation, workforce development, professional regulation, and European veterinary structures to contact their COST National Coordinator (CNC) as soon as possible if they wish to be considered for nomination to the MC.
This is a time-sensitive matter. Applications/nominations are possible from 11 June 2026 onwards, and for each COST Member country there are two MC seats. As far as we have been informed, a first come, first served principle will be applied for these seats. Early contact with your CNC is therefore essential.
The nomination process is handled nationally through the respective CNC. Please therefore get in touch directly with your national COST contact point and express your interest in joining the MC of VET-PASS.

Of course, colleagues will also be able to join VET-PASS later through one or more Working Groups, and such participation will be very welcome. However, at this early stage, it is particularly important that the MC includes committed colleagues with profound knowledge of veterinary specialisation systems, national structures, European professional frameworks, and the needs of the veterinary profession.
A strong and well-balanced MC will be crucial for the success, visibility, and long-term impact of VET-PASS. The Action aims to improve transparency, comparability, and strategic development of postgraduate veterinary specialisation across Europe. To achieve this, we need colleagues in the MC who understand both the diversity of national systems and the value of European cooperation.
I would therefore be very grateful if you could consider this opportunity personally and also share this information with suitable colleagues in your country or network who may be interested and well placed to contribute.
Thank you very much for your support and continued engagement. I look forward to working with many of you in the next steps of VET-PASS.
With best regards,
Heiko
