The Small Animal Hospital AniCura Stuttgart is offering an Neurology Internship position to veterinarians wishing to advance their clinical training in neurology in view of enrolling in a neurology residency program. Our hospital is a state-of-the-art, private referral institution located in southwest of Germany.

The successful candidate will join our rapidly expanding team of specialists in a wide range of disciplines (cardiology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, neurology & neurosurgery, physiotherapy, surgery) and our team of experienced assistants and interns. The intern will be supervised and work close together with an ECVN Diplomate, a Resident of the ECVN and two Clinical Fellows in Neurology. Our hospital has a modern equipment including 24/7 availability, in-house clinical pathology laboratory and cytology, radiography, ultrasonography, fluoroscopy, electrodiagnostic equipment, MRI, CT, dedicated neurosurgical unit, and intensive care unit.

The successful candidate will benefit from both a busy and dynamic clinical environment and formal training. Interns participate in hospital rounds, journal clubs, and MRI rounds.

Eastcott Referrals is offering a one-year specialty internship position for candidates who are interested in advancing their career in the field of veterinary neurology and neurosurgery.  It is anticipated that completion of the internship will put the successful candidate in a strong position to apply for residencies.

Neurology and Neurosurgery Internship at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists (Alton) Starting August 2024 29/02/2024

LPVS is a specialist-led multidisciplinary referral hospital providing veterinary referral services across the South of England including London, the South Coast, and the Thames Valley. Our services include orthopaedics and soft tissue surgery (four ECVS diplomates and two ECVS residents), neurology and neurosurgery (three ECVN diplomates, two board-eligible neurologists and one ECVN resident), internal medicine (two ECVIM diplomates, two ACVIM diplomates, and two ECVIM residents), emergency and critical care (one ACVECC diplomate); alongside dermatology, diagnostic imaging, oncology, cardiology, ophthalmology and physiotherapy.

The internships will involve a range of duties to help facilitate the running of the department; including a contribution to inpatient care, consultations, student teaching, assisting with the management of emergencies, supervised primary care responsibility, diagnostic procedures, and surgeries. The role will expose you to training in the medical and surgical management of patients as well as working within a referral team setting. You will be encouraged to be involved in clinical research. The role would prepare you well for entry into an approved residency training programme in your chosen discipline.


Prior completion of a rotating internship, or a minimum of two years of experience in small animal practice in the UK is considered essential. We expect that candidates will have excellent standards of written and spoken English. Roles are full-time (40-hour week) with an expectation of 1:3 weekends on call. Job Description

 

The https://vhc.missouri.edu/small-animal-hospital/neurology-neurosurgery/ at the University of Missouri currently seeks candidates for two open faculty positions as either clinical instructors, open rank teaching professors (NTT), or open rank professors (TT). The NNS Service consists of four board-certified veterinary neurologists, three to four NNS residents in training, and a dedicated veterinary nursing staff. Together, the clinicians, students, and technician of the NNS Service, provide exceptional care for one of the most productive service lines in our teaching hospital, with over 2000 cases per year. 

The successful candidate will work with the service to enhance referral caseload and to train students and house officers in neurosurgery and neurology. Additionally, the service covers didactic teaching responsibilities including classroom lectures and laboratories. The Neurology and Neurosurgery Section offers opportunities for collaborative or independent basic, translational, and clinical research.  This is a full-time, benefit eligible, 12 month/year appointment. Teaching or tenure track options are available depending on the qualifications and interests of the candidate. Distribution of effort between teaching, research, and service will depend upon whether a tenure track or teaching track option is chosen as well as the successful candidate's qualifications, career goals, and the needs of the neurology & neurosurgery section. Duties will also include:

 • Providing clinical instruction of students (professional), interns, and residents in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery utilizing the caseload of the VHC.

• Contributing to the professional and graduate curriculum by participating in classroom and laboratory instruction. Opportunities for online instruction are possible.

• Representing the University, College, and VHC through outreach activities for animal-owning public, referring veterinarians, or other relevant stakeholders.

• Providing consultation to off-site, university-operated clinics.

• Participation with other faculty and house officers in after-hours call.

• Participation in the discovery process by participating in collaborative research and graduate/house officer research.

• Participation in faculty governance activities.

The VHC has 51,211 square feet dedicated to the small animal hospital, including separate areas for our 14 specialty service lines, a full-service clinical pathology laboratory, an in-house pharmacy, as well as radiation therapy and imaging. The VHC offers the latest in neurosurgical equipment and neurodiagnostics that include advanced imaging, electrodiagnostic testing, clinicopathologic testing, DNA testing, radiation therapy, 3-D printing, dedicated Motion Analysis Laboratory and stereotaxy equipment. Electrodiagnostic testing (Cadwell Sierra Summit) includes digital EEG, EMG, nerve conduction testing, and signal averaging. Imaging modalities available in house include computed tomography (CT) (Acquillion One Scanner; 640 slices/rotation), 3.0 Tesla magnetic resonance scanner (Canon), fluoroscopy (OEC 990 Elite, GE) and CT/Positron Emission Tomography scanner (Celesteion PET/CT scanner, Canon). The Small Animal Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Service has dedicated faculty and staff. The VHC additionally provides a supportive environment for clinical trial research and has experience in performing veterinary clinical trials.

 

Qualifications

 Minimum Qualifications:

 • A Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree (such as VMD, BVSc)

• Diplomate status or eligibility for certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (Neurology/Neurosurgery) or completion of an approved neurology/neurosurgery residency training by appointment start date.

 • Eligibility for licensure to practice veterinary medicine in Missouri.

The ECVN approved residency programme in neurology and neurosurgery includes training in neuroanatomy, clinical neurology, neurosurgery, neuropharmacology, neuropathology amongst others.

 

Your role and responsibilities

The successful candidate will join a growing team including 4 neurology Diplomates, working in collaboration with our dedicated neurology nursing team. The role will include supported out-of-hours responsibilities at weekends, weeknights and bank holidays. 

 

Teaching and clinical research is provided and strongly supported by our team of highly recognised neurologists.

 

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant neurology experience
  • A completed rotating internship
  • Preferably, also have completed a neurology specific internship at a referral hospital.
  • General practice experience is desirable.

Due to the rapid outstanding growth of our department, we are now looking for a fifth Senior Neurology Clinician to join our friendly, experienced team. Our team comprises three ECVN Diplomates, one ECVN Board-eligible clinician, two residents, three interns and two service-specific nurses. We are open to applications from both Diplomates and Board-eligible candidates. Large experience in neurosurgery is not mandatory, as we are happy to provide all the necessary training.

At The Ralph, you will have access to advanced neurodiagnostic equipment, including 1.5T MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, electrodiagnostic unit (with capability for EMG, sensory and motor nerve conduction studies, BAER and video EEG) and a vast array of neurosurgical equipment. We have a highly varied caseload of medical and surgical neurological cases with exposure to various advanced neurosurgical procedures. In our specialist-led multidisciplinary environment, you will also receive full support from Diplomates in many disciplines. These include Anaesthesia and Analgesia, Cardiology, Dentistry, Diagnostic Imaging, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Ophthalmology, and Orthopaedic and Soft Tissue surgery. Our Neurology service works very closely with our excellent Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation team. Our hospital also has a 24-7-365 Diplomate-led Emergency and Critical Care service. This allows us to provide specialist care, including mechanical ventilation, to acute and critical patients at any time.

The full-time job offer is four days a week. Different, flexible, part-time working patterns can be discussed. The weekend on-call rota is one weekend in five, either as primary or as backup for the residents. During the week our Emergency and Critical care team are responsible for admitting neuroemergencies Out of Hours.

The Division of Clinical Neurology of the Vetsuisse Faculty, University Bern, Switzerland is looking for a Veterinary Neurologist to complement our international dynamic young team that is formed by two ECVN Diplomates, two ECVN residents, one dual-site resident, one PhD student, one senior vet in training to become a national specialist, and one rotating intern.

The position is open for senior clinicians holding an ECVN or ACVIM board Certificate in Neurology, although board-eligible Candidates will also be considered. The focus of the position is on Clinical Research and should enable the Candidate to reach all qualifications for a career in academia. The Candidate is also expected to enhance the Division’s reputation offering an excellent clinical Neurology service. The position is particularly aimed for senior clinicians that are enthusiastic in teaching that will comprise delivering theoretical and clinical training for undergraduate students as well as for advanced postgraduate training programmes. The position starts at 1st May 2024.

The Division of Neurology is a very busy dynamic service with approximately 1000 referred neurological cases per year, supported by state-of-the art diagnostics, neurosurgery further and therapeutical facilities. It is embedded in the busy multi-disciplinary environment of the Small Animal Teaching Hospital although large animals are seen regularly. The Vetsuisse Faculty provides a very stimulating research environment focused on neuroscience with strong multidisciplinary collaboration with neuropathology and neuroimaging.

The Candidate should be fluent in at least one of the two official languages of the Vetsuisse Faculty (German and French), nevertheless English is widely used as a working language in clinics.

PhD student position in Neurology at University Bern, CH 24/11/2023

The Division of Clinical Neurology has an open position as PhD for a project together with the Division of Neurological Sciences (Anna Oevermann) investigating the tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) including tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in canine and feline brain tumors. The project is embedded into a larger research initiative to develop an immunotherapeutical approach as adjunctive approach in antitumor therapy. For this laboratory-based project, a number of research techniques including cell isolation procedures, cell culture, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry and RNA sequencing will be applied. A close relation to Clinical Neurology is encouraged with the option to get involved in an ECVN residency program.

The PhD student will work in a multidisciplinary environment, receive committed scientific supervision and will be affiliated to the Graduate School for Cellular and Biomedical Sciences (GCB) of the University Bern. Remuneration will be according to the guidelines of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF).

The PhD student should hold a veterinary degree, must fulfil the requirements for acceptance of the Graduate School for Cellular and Biomedical Sciences (GCB) of the University Bern, must be highly motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team. Neurology and Neurosurgery Residency at RVC, UK 12/11/2023

Our clinical training residency in veterinary neurology and neurosurgery is a three-year program satisfying the training requirements needed to attain specialist certification in the European College of Veterinary Neurology.

The programme has a strong emphasis on clinical neurology and neurosurgery, and you will have primary case responsibility for a large and varied caseload. The clinical training program is well supported by six Neurology faculty members (including six Diplomates of the ECVN), four other residents, one rotating Small Animal intern, a team of dedicated neurology and rehabilitation nurses, a veterinary physiotherapist and final-year veterinary students on rotation. Specialists in internal medicine, orthopaedic and soft-tissue surgery, emergency medicine and critical care, cardiology, oncology, anaesthesia, ophthalmology, dermatology, radiology and pathology also support the program.

Clinical work is mainly with our small animal caseload in the QMHA, though our service does consult on neurological cases in the Equine Referral Hospital and for the Farm Animal Service. You will also participate in an out of hours on-call rota for neurological and neurosurgical emergencies. Facilities include on-site MRI (1.5T Philips), 320 slice computed tomography, fluoroscopy, wireless EEG system, modern neurosurgical facilities including an Ultrasonic Surgical System, Brainsight neuronavigation system, Viking electrodiagnostic system, a large purpose-built ICU, and a physiotherapy unit with hydrotherapy pool and an underwater-treadmill staffed by a veterinary physiotherapist and dedicated nurses.

Excellence in teaching and clinical research is also emphasised, with structured time off clinics allowed for study and the completion of research projects. The program includes regular clinical rounds, neuropathology rounds, journal club and resident seminar series.

The infrastructure is fully in place to support the service and any associated projects, with 1.5T MRI and 160 slice CT operated by an experienced team of radiographers, access to electrophysiology, and a dedicated team of chartered physiotherapists and hydrotherapists.

The Role
Pride Veterinary Referrals have an exciting opportunity for a Neurologist to join their established team.
The successful candidate will work alongside three existing European Diplomates in Veterinary Neurology, an experienced Residency Trained Neurology Clinician, three Neurology Residents, two Neurology Interns and two dedicated Neurology Nurses.
We are offering both full-time and part-time hours for the right candidate. Full-time is a 4-day week on-site. The working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 8:30am-6pm, with the on-call rota shared amongst the team.

Pride Veterinary Centre is the central small animal hospital for the Scarsdale Veterinary Group, employing over 300 staff across 12 sites in the Midlands.

Our purpose-designed, state-of-the-art hospital offers services in neurology, internal medicine, small animal surgery, critical care, medical and surgical oncology, imaging, and a 24 hour emergency service. We have 12 specialists and a total of approximately 50 veterinarians. About the Team

The neurology veterinary team comprises one registered specialist in neurology and, currently, two neurology interns. We provide the only veterinary neurology service in Queensland. About the Residency

The residency is an ECVN approved, alternative training programme and is medically oriented, however, sufficient neurosurgical exposure will be provided to meet training requirements. This is a full-time 3-year residency training programme tailored to ready the successful candidate for the European College of Veterinary Neurology Board Examinations.

The residency will provide exposure to a wide variety of neurology cases, with direct case supervision by Dr Christine Thomson, daily rounds, journal club (in conjunction with two other neurology specialty services) and in-house seminars. We currently see 350-400 medical neurology and 180-220 neurosurgical cases, per year. The residency will be co-supervised by two other ECVN diplomats, also located on the east coast of Australia.

This 4 day a week position will provide adequate time for publication writing, study and research. Some weekend and on-call work will be required.

Requirements

Candidates must be eligible for veterinary registration in QLD, hold a current radiation licence, and have excellent communication skills and work ethic, as well as a strong knowledge base on which to build. Completion of an internship or at least 2 years’ experience as a veterinarian is required. Membership of the ANZCVS or having done a neurology internship would be highly desirable.

San Marco Veterinary Clinic is a state of the art, multidisciplinary private referral institution situated in Veggiano (Padua), Italy.
The Intern will join the Neuroteam in their daily clinical, electrodiagnostic and neurosurgery activities. The Intern will be joining the team of three ECVN Diplomates, two senior neurologists, one junior neurologist and one intern specialist.


The Intern will be enrolled as active part of the daily work and weekly continuing educations, including weekly journal clubs and book readings.
SM has modern equipment including in-house clinical pathology laboratory and cytology, histopathology, radiography, ultrasonography, fluoroscopy, electrodiagnostic equipment, 3T-MRI, multidetector-row CT, dedicated neurosurgical unit, physiotherapy and rehabilitative unit and intensive care unit.
Applicants should preferably have successfully completed a 12-month rotating internship or have experience small animal practice.
Please note that due to the location of our practice and the ‘on call’ responsibilities, having your own transport would be an advantage.
