Please note:
The ability to take up this Scholarship is contingent upon you being able to evidence your right to work in the UK, or through gaining the right to work via the UK immigration system. Evidence will need to be provided before an offer can be made. Regrettably, this Scholarship is not suitable for sponsorship via the Skilled Worker or Temporary Worker visa routes as the minimum requirements cannot be met.
This Scholarship provides an outstanding opportunity to study for a postgraduate qualification and is available to start on Monday 19 October 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. The training programme covers all aspects of veterinary neurology including neurosurgery, imaging, electrodiagnostics and pathology, and is approved by the European College of Veterinary Neurology (ECVN).
The Scholarship is for one year in the first instance, renewable for periods of one year up to a total of three years. It is subject to an initial monitoring period of six months and review on an annual basis.
The Scholar will be required to register for the Diploma of the ECVN. The training programme requires participation in the Department’s clinical service, including the out-of-hours rota and first opinion practice, in addition to small-group teaching of veterinary students.
Applicants must be a Member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, or hold a veterinary degree qualifying her/him for membership. Completion of a recognised internship or a minimum of two years’ experience in small animal practice or equivalent is essential.

The Neurology Position:
We are looking for a second full-time, enthusiastic and dedicated clinical Neurology and Neurosurgery Specialist to join Dr. Salih Eminaga in his established service. This brand-new hospital has been purpose-built and opened in early 2025, with our teams' needs in mind, boasting state-of-the-art equipment including: Siemens Magnetom Sempra 1.5 Tesla MRI, Siemens 64 slice CT, Natus UltraPro S100 3 Channel EMG/NCV, Siemens Ultrasound, fluoroscopy, digital radiography, and a large dedicated medicine procedure area, endoscopy suite, fluoroscopy and interventional procedure suite, and chemotherapy suite.
Our Critical Care department is staffed seven days a week by two ECC specialists and a registrar. This allows you to focus on your inpatient and outpatient procedures. We are heavily feline oriented and practice ISFM gold standards (in process) and low stress handling.
Our Neurology and Neurosurgery department is rapidly expanding with wide variety of complex medical and surgical cases. The position
The resident will work in the neurology team of the Small Animal Clinic of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Ghent University), consisting of one part-time ECVN diplomate, one experienced neurologist, a neurology clinician and a neurology intern. The resident will spend 4-6 weeks/year with another ECVN diplomate. Weekend and out-of-hours work are required. The resident will start in September 2026. Monthly enumeration is 1980€.

The neurology service is fully equipped to manage complex cases. Skills and requirements
Applicants must hold a DVM degree or an equivalent qualification from a European accredited veterinary institution. They must have completed a rotating internship in companion animal medicine or have at least 2 years of clinical practice experience. Proficiency in Dutch is preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the position requires effective collaboration within a team-oriented environment. An interest in teaching veterinary students is also expected, as this constitutes an integral component of the role. A visit to the clinic prior to a potential interview is necessary.
