Integrated 6-year Residency / PhD Programme in Veterinary Neurology & Neurosurgery

The RVC seeks to appoint one enthusiastic Senior Clinical Training Scholar (Resident)/PhD student in Veterinary Neurology and Neurosurgery. Scholars will receive supervised clinical training in medical and surgical neurology while working within the college’s hospitals. Clinical responsibilities include primary care of small animal patients, and availability for consultation on large and exotic animal species. Scholars will be involved in the clinical teaching of interns and veterinary students. Scholars are expected undertake clinical research in a related topic and submit research publications based on their work. Scholars will also be enrolled into a Master of Veterinary Medicine (MVetMed) programme. Our three-­year programme fulfills the residency training requirements necessary for admission to the European College of Veterinary Neurology. After successful completion the 3-­year programme will be followed by a 3-­year PhD progamme in the field of neuromuscular research in Prof. Richard Piercy’s lab. The PhD component is subject to the normal Graduate School entry requirements.
