Dick White Referrals is offering a three-year
Neurology and Neurosurgery Residency position to a dynamic and enthusiastic
veterinary surgeon wishing to advance his/her clinical training in neurology and
neurosurgery to become eligible to sit the European College of Veterinary
Neurology (ECVN) Diploma Examination.
Dick White Referrals is a state-of-the-art,
private referral institution located in Cambridgeshire. The successful
candidate will join DWR’s rapidly expanding team of RCVS, European and American
Specialist Clinicians in a wide range of disciplines (anaesthesia, cardiology,
clinical pathology, veterinary pathology, dermatology, diagnostic imaging,
internal medicine, oncology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, neurology & neurosurgery,
physiotherapy, soft tissue surgery, emergency and critical care) and the DWR
team of Residents and Interns.
The residency programme will comprise a
combination of small animal referral practice, specialist training, clinical
research, informal undergraduate teaching with external rotations in equine,
farm and exotic animal neurology & neurosurgery.
The Resident will be supervised and be in
daily contact with three ECVN Diplomates and one Clinical Fellow in Neurology. Our
centre has modern equipment including 24/7 availability, an in-house clinical
pathology laboratory and cytology, radiography, ultrasonography, fluoroscopy,
electrodiagnostic equipment, MRI, CT, dedicated neurosurgical unit, intensive
care unit and easy access to radiotherapy.
We are looking for a candidate with strong
background knowledge in veterinary medicine and surgery and ready to work with
a busy caseload. Annual caseload is about 2000 for neurology, 500 for neurosurgery.
Applicants to the program will be selected on the basis of their written
application, an interview and referee reports. Applicants must have
successfully completed a 12-month rotating internship or have equivalent
experience of two years in small animal practice. The successful candidate must
have good written, verbal communication, interpersonal and organisational
skills.
The candidate must be eligible to work in
the UK, a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons or be eligible and
hold a valid driving license.
The successful candidate will be expected
to start in late spring/summer 2021.
