ECVN Residency/ Professional Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVetMed) in Neurology and Neurosurgery at The R(D)SVS-University of Edinburgh (2020 – 2024)

Applications are invited from veterinary graduates for a Professional Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVetMed) (“Residency”) in Neurology and Neurosurgery.

The role is based within the Hospital for Small Animals at the School’s Easter Bush campus. In this full-time training position aimed at the ECVN Diploma, the resident will contribute to the Neurology and Neurosurgery clinical service and fulfil teaching and research commitments under the supervision of 5 ECVN or ACVIM (Neurology) diplomates. The Hospital for Small Animals has access to a 1.5T in-house and 3T on-campus MRI, 64-slice CT, fluoroscopy, electro-diagnostic equipment, intensive care unit and cutting-edge physiotherapy and radiotherapy. We offer a 24/7 service, the current annual caseload is approximately 1,200 and still growing. We work in collaboration with colleagues in the Equine and Farm Animal Hospitals and the Rabbit and Exotic Practice on Campus. Candidates must have an enthusiasm for the discipline, an ability to work as part of a dedicated team and have completed a one-year internship or equivalent clinical experience of at least two-year duration. 


Applicants should hold a degree that is recognised by the RCVS, be fully registered with the RCVS prior to the start of the scholarship and have appropriate English language qualifications at the time of application.


The scholarship is available from September 2020, and will run for a four-year fixed-term, renewable annually subject to completion of required DVetMed and residency components.
