Neurology Residency - Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists

Residency in Veterinary Neurology at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists, Alton, UK.

We are excited to offer this three-year clinical training post that will start in March 2020, taking place at Lumbry Park Veterinary Specialists (LPVS) in Alton, UK. You will be supervised and supported by our three ECVN diplomates. The programme is ECVN-accredited and will prepare you for the ECVN diploma examinations after completion.


LPVS is a specialist-led multidisciplinary referral hospital providing veterinary referral services across the South of England including London and the Thames Valley. Our services include orthopaedic surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, dentistry, cardiology, anaesthesia, emergency and critical care, and diagnostic imaging. The hospital is an ISFM gold feline clinic and was awarded the BVHA design award for an outstanding working environment. We are part of CVS (UK) Ltd, the largest provider of integrated veterinary services in the UK; we are supported by services from seven other referral hospitals in the UK and Ireland.


The residency programme will provide training in clinical neurology, neurosurgery, electrodiagnostics, neuroimaging, neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, and neuropathology. As part of the team you will be trained in the daily care of patients, consultations, diagnostic procedures, and neurosurgeries. You will also be involved in clinical research and as part of the ECVN accreditation process. You will also participate in an out of hours on-call rota for neurological and neurosurgical emergencies. Facilities include on-site Siemens 1.5T MRI, 16 slice computed tomography, fluoroscopy, electrodiagnostics and advanced neurosurgical tools.


We are seeking a proactive, professional individual with a positive attitude at all times; together with outstanding interpersonal skills, an ability to stay calm under pressure and a commitment to practising the highest standards of veterinary medicine and patient care.


A minimum of twelve months experience working as a qualified Veterinary Surgeon in small animal private practice in the UK is essential. We expect that candidates will have completed a minimum of a one-year rotating internship.
